Sister Jesperson and the Transfers to San Fran!

Baptism of Salvador and Clementina

I thought that title might catch your attention. Just like I received a shock for tranfer calls this week. I was sure that I was staying in Oakland, but oh I was wrong.

I will officially be in San Francisco this wednesday training Hermana Mendez (costa rica). Yep. I will be south of the city in an area called Foster City and part of San Mateo taking over an Elders area. I was super shocked because there hasn't been spanish sisters in san fran before. I will be back out full-pros.President said he thought about putting us in the city, but it is just too dangerous with too much persecution. I am excited, nervous, and so sad to leave the amazing people of Oakland, but I guess YES. (Now I know I prayed for this for like the first 4 weeks after our mission combined, but I quickly stopped. I guess the Lord doesn't forget certain things!)

I am attaching a photo of the baptism yesterday. salvador and clementina were baptized!!!! Josue's mom wouldn't give him permission and he was so sad. can you see the white outfit he wore. the whole ward thought he was getting baptized too. The rest of the family loved it and they will follow very soon. it will be sooooo hard to leave them, but president hinted that i might return here..so not too sad. it was the most amazing baptism ever and the ward was amazing!! The Ap's sang for us, part of the elders quorum sang, and the ZL did the presentation. It was so special and one of the best days of my life!! A great ending to the transfer here.

I love you all. ryan and becky, congrats on the boy. grandma and grandpa tell scott hi for me! keep up the good missionary work and I am so excited for you to get to Guadalajara!!!

I know this church is the true church of chirst. We have so many blessings. the gospel changes people like nothing else can. salvador was a different person after his baptism. he we be a strong priesthood holder soon. I know joseph smith was a prophet and that we see miracles everyday here. I love being a missionary.

Sister Jesperson (10.12.09)

HOLA FAMILIA
busy week as usually so i will quickly update you on a few things:

1. We received a referral for a woman who wanted sisters. I called her and she is from Thailand (Her name is Cherry). We are teaching her on Wednesday so it should be interesting!!

2. Salvador and his son, Josue, will be baptized on Sunday. They are soooo excited and Salvador can hardly wait to get the priesthood. His mom, Clementina, still isn't sure. But I think that she will be baptized as well. They will have their interview on Tuesday night so pray for them please!! They have changed so so so much and have a beautiful light. Salvador heard a member sware the other day (I didn't know because I don't know all those words in all the different countries. Most of the time a blessing.) He was really confused at first, but then replied that we all have things we are working on. Yeah! He is really understanding the purpose of the Gospel.

3.Armando is still excited to be baptized, but didn't make it to church. The member asked him to wait on the corner, but he got scared of waiting to long so he moved. The member couldn't find him and he never got to church :( (People wait on the streets for people to pick them up for a job, but it is illegal and the police will get you and deport you. The nature of our work here in Oakland.) So we are teaching him how to use the bus and all should be well for next week.

4.The Daboin family is still really struggling and we are doing all we can to help them. We finally got a lesson scheduled with the father for Wednesday night. Pray the spirit will be with us. We and they really really need a miracle. And the Gospel can keep their family together.

5. Transfer calls are this weekend, ack! I do not want to leave this area, but I don't think I will. I am praying Hna Tanner and I can be companions for her last transfer. Who knows?!

6. I am learning so much from the mission. I think I really have learned about patience and humility. I know that will probably make you all laugh, but I think I am slowly improving. There are so many amazing and humble people here and they serve so much. I Know God loves them as much as he loves me. And he wants them to have the Gospel so much. We have to humble ourselves each day to ask forgiveness and what an amazing experience to feel clean from the atonement. Being a missionary is the best thing ever and I love seeing peoles lives change every day-including mine. Helaman 13:38. I know this Gospel is true and that is blesses us so much.
